A groundbreaking new novel called "The God Box" was published this week to coincide with National Coming Out Day . The book is by Alex Sanchez , author of the "Rainbow Boys" trilogy. The book deals with the lives of gay teens who are also active Christians , showing how they wrestle with integrating sexuality and faith and self acceptance . The book is geared toward teens but is a great read and will appeal to adult readers as well.  Its themes are ultimately very universal about coming to live with integrity as the person God has made you to be and having a deeper relationship with God.  I am excited about this book because there really is very little else out there with this focus for a teen audience. I believe "The God Box"  can really make a difference in the lives of many gay teens of faith. The story takes place in Texas and the kids are Mexican-American so there is a wonderful multicultural aspect as well. The book also deals with "ex gay" ministries, Gay/Straight Alliances (GSA's) in high schools, and does a wonderful job dealing with the various biblical texts so often used to condemn gay folks.
